Simulation of laser speckle patterns, evaluation with cross-correlation and simulative investigation of 3D deformation gradients’ influence on the evaluation

Semester: Wintersemester 2023 / 2024
Course: BSc Produktionstechnik, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen Produktionstechnik
Suitable as: Bachelor's Project
Group size: 3-4 persons

Speckle photography is an optical measurement method for the high-resolution determination of deformation fields. In this process, the characteristic speckle pattern of a surface is captured with a camera during deformation. Evaluating the images using cross-correlation allows for the broad detection of the smallest deformations in the nanometer range.

The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of 3D deformation gradients on the measurement uncertainty of the calculated displacement fields. For this purpose, speckle patterns are to be created and the influence of deformation gradients simulated. In addition, a validation experiment is to be planned and carried out.
